This month our guest speaker is Colin Whitbread who will demonstrate steps towards more dynamic colour: use of neutrals, know your colours, colour relationships and layering.

About Colin Whitbread:

Colin has been drawing and painting from a young age. He studied philosophy and theology at the University of Toronto and taught elementary and high school for 30 plus years. Along the way, he went to OCAD to further his art journey. He has been married to a very artistic and creative Susan for 45 years, and together they raised 7 children and are enjoying the wonders of 8 grandchildren. After retirement, Colin spent much of his time teaching art to all ages. He is on the board of Latcham Art Center in Stouffville and has been teaching there for some time. He is currently on four studio tours (Stouffville, Uxbridge, Scugog and Durham West) and has had several exhibitions. His teaching has really helped his own work develop as it stretches him to look at art-making from many different perspectives. Colour, texture and surface experimentation are key elements of his style. His subject matter is varied as he considers form and process more important than subject matter.
