Join Wendy Bermingham for a workshop on oils, trees and brushstrokes.

The workshop will start by drawing/painting the placement of key elements of the painting using a grid for guidance, and then applying a rough, abstract, full-colour under-painting using thinned paint. The class will then continue to add more opaque layers using a variety of brushes and palette knives, learning how to develop edges, values, depth and textures.

The basics of colour and composition will be touched upon and the instructor will demonstrate how to do each stage of the painting while the class follows along and adds small demonstrations of creative brushstrokes or palette knife techniques if needed.

A reference photo will be supplied by the instructor. Participants are required to bring all other art supplies. A materials list will be sent to all registrants.

If you would like to SIGN UP for this workshop, please do so by the deadline: March 14, 2019.

OAA Members $60 | Non-OAA Members $70

About the Instructor:
Wendy Bermingham grew up in the small town of Aurora, Ontario and graduated from the Ontario College of Art and Design in 1985. With a major in Communication and Design, Wendy enjoyed a very successful career as a graphic designer for many years but after spending time getting back to her roots in nature, she discovered that fine art was her true calling.  Primarily self taught, she now paints full time in her studio or outside on location and has never looked back. Wendy has traveled throughout Canada, Europe and the USA to paint, including Italy, California and Arizona but it is the Canadian landscape where her true passion lies.

Painting exclusively in oil, Wendy uses both brush and palette knife, utilizing their unique marks to create texture, movement and light in her paintings.

Wendy is an elected member of the Ontario Society of Artists and the Society of Canadian Artists, and a member of the East Central Ontario Art Association. Her work can be found in galleries and private collections in Canada, USA and Hong Kong.
